Journey Day 6 - Grand Teton tour out of Wilson (Gnd Teton)

Up and out for 8:30 this morning as we'd decided on a walk and it has been in the 80'sF. Additionally we hoped we'd be early enough to see wildlife and be there before the car park filled.
Our bnb is close to the South Park entrance and we travel up Moose Road past signs regarding wildlife close to road. We saw no Moose but see an unidentified bird and spotted a coyote wandering across a field; moves more like a cat than a dog (no photo).

We left the car in about 56F which was comfortable and had a pleasant 4 hour hike up through the forest to Bradley Lake then connecting to Taggert Lake and returning through 'bear country' to the car. Our host had lent us a bear spray to carry but we didn't see any bears, never mind an angry one. We did see chip monks, various birds and a very cute weasel standing up staring us out.

A grove of Aspen. Aspen spread through root rather than seed so whole groves are exactly the same colour including turning to autumn colours together.

By the  time we returned to the car we were melting and the car park was over flowing along the road.

We nipped out of the Park at Moose to by lunch and ate in the quiet car park of a 1924 wooden church sitting on the back of the boot under the shade of the door. Another plus point for an SUV.

In the afternoon we toured to the top of the Park and took in String Lakes loop which gave gorgeous views across Jenny Lake. We continued North again and joined the road via Moran back toward Jackson. It was from this road yesterday that we saw a herd of Bison but nothing today; no idea where they went.

We stopped at Schwabacker Road where there is a lot of beaver activity but in spite of walking up and down the Snake River we saw none. We did see several remarkable beaver dams and a lodge and came across a tree which they were gnawing through.

We hit Jackson it time for the nightly 'shoot out' at 6 in the main square. Real guns with blanks, they are LOUD! After that fun distraction we searched for a place to eat with remarkable difficulty. We only wanted a simple meal and most places go for 'fine dining'. Liberty Burger appeared in front of us and we really enjoyed a burger and fries, sweet potato fries for me.

Driving back to Wilson we passed cars pulling up all over the place above a swampy area an parked up to walk back. It was worth stopping as there was a Moose down in the grass. We could only see its head but that's another animal ticked off.
